How can I find out, if my car is VEP-ready?
You can check if your car is VEP-ready (Vehicle Entry Permit), by verifying if it has a valid VEP-RFID tag installed and activated. This tag is mandatory for foreign-registered vehicles entering Malaysia. You’ve to confirm your vehicle’s VEP status by,
- Log in to the official VEP portal.
- Enter your Car’s details correctly (number plate, owner info, etc.).
- Check your registration status (show as “Activated” or “Completed”).
- If you haven’t received the RFID tag, you can track your collection status through the portal.
- If your status shows “Incomplete” or “Pending,” your car is not yet VEP-ready and may not be allowed entry at Malaysian borders.
What should I do, if my car is not VEP-ready?
If your car is not VEP-ready, it means you cannot legally enter Malaysia with it until the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) process is completed. Driving into Malaysia without a VEP may result in denied entry, fines, or vehicle impoundment. Always ensure your VEP is ready and active before crossing the border. Follow the below steps to activate VEP.
- Register your vehicle on the VEP portal
- Wait for approval and the issuance of your VEP-RFID tag
- Collect and install the RFID tag on your car as instructed
