Driver points
- Under the Driver Improvement Points System, drivers who commit traffic violations will accrue demerit points (it starts at 0 points) (DIPS). The maximum number of points you can accumulate before your driving privileges are suspended is 24, but probationary drivers—those who have obtained their licenses within the last year—and those whose driving privileges have recently been restored—can only accrue up to 12 points before their privileges are suspended.
