What is Taxi Driver’s vocational license?
It’s a vocational license which a Taxi Driver’s Vocational Licence (TDVL) permits you to operate a Taxi and a Private Hire Car at the same time (PHC). Once they’ve completed and passed all of the required tests, trainees can get their hands on the Taxi Driver’s Vocational License (TPDVL) and Private Hire Car Driver’s Vocational License (PDVL) from Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA).

Eligibility to apply?
- You must be a Singaporean citizen with a pink NRIC.
- Must be 30 years old.
- At the time of application, have a valid Class 3 or 3A Singapore driving license for at least one year.
- speak and read basic English
- Must have a clean criminal record.
- Must have Medisave contributions
Documents required for Taxi Driver’s Vocational Licence
- NRIC
- Passport-sized photo
- Certificates of education that demonstrate proficiency in the English language.
- GCE “O”/“N” Level pass in English (at least a D7 grade) or
- a score of at least 80% on the Workplace Literacy-Computer Adaptive Test’s Listening, Reading, and Speaking sections (WPL-CAT). Find out how to take the test by visiting the British Council.
How and where to apply?
- Submit an application online.
- Login to the website by using Singpass.
- Under the application, search for the TDVL
- Fill in the application and upload the document
- Make the nonrefundable payment of $40 via credit card, debit card, or PayPal.
- If all the paperwork is in order, you should receive a letter of approval in principle from LTA within 15 working days.
- Must undergo a medical check-up and chest x-ray examination.
- Take the TDVL exam after registering for the training course.
- As soon as you pass the test, you will be issued a Temporary Vocational Licence (TVL). You will receive your photo card license within 20 working days by registered mail. Your temporary TDVL will expire once you receive your photocard license.
What is the validity of TDVL?
It takes three years for a vocational license to expire.
