St. George’s Tamil Language Center started functioning from 1978. In 1982, the center shifted to the former Beatty High School campus. In 1983, the center was renamed Umarupulavar Tamil Language Center. It is also functioning as a National Resource Center. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, this institution has taken the responsibility of imparting not only language but also artistic and cultural values to the students.
