Singapore International Photography Festival: 25 Years of Singapore Photographic Identity

The Singapore International Photography Festival 2026 returns for its 10th Edition, bringing photography, history and culture to Singapore. The festival will examine 25 Years of Singapore’s Photographic Identity. This is a great event for art lovers, photography enthusiasts, and anyone who’s interested in Singapore’s changing visual culture.

When is SIPF 2026?

SIPF will take place from October 16, to January 31, 2027. Its theme is In My End, Is My Beginning. This festival reflects on the way photographs can preserve memories and gain new meanings with time.

What can you expect at the SIPF in 2026?

The main program “Shifting Images: Photography from Singapore 2000-2025” brings 47 artists across seven exhibitions.

The exhibitions cover topics such as:

  1. Singapore’s urban development
  2. Colonial archives
  3. Gender and Identity
  4. Memory and History
  5. Analogue photography
  6. Generative AI
  7. Photographic fact and fiction

Exhibitions will take place at various venues, including Mizuma Gallery and ShanghArt Gallery. Other venues include Stories Joo Chiat Post Office, SingPost Geylang Post Office, Guoco Midtown, Geylang East Library.

Singapore Index: A Special Photography Exhibition

Tan Pin Pin, an artist and filmmaker, presents “Singapore Index”, at Shop-House de Deck.

63 photos selected from 2800 black-and white negatives were taken in 1991-92. The photos capture Singapore’s everyday life, such as weddings, funerals and school events. They also include religious gatherings, social occasions, and religious services.

SIPF 2026 Events & Activities

SIPF is much more than just a series of exhibitions. The festival will bring together photographers from Asia and Europe, as well as curators, publishers, and creative professionals.

The speakers include the creative director and curator Monica Allende; artist and AI specialist Boris Eldagsen; and Shi Zhen from La Maison de Z.
